In March and April '97, a 26-question survey was taken of JackinWorld readers age 21 and under. The responses of 603 people were used to compile the results. For any given questions, the percentages indicated reflect only those people who answered the question. It is important to note that this is a profile of the JackinWorld readership, not the general population.

o Conclusion: It is widely said that in the Southern U.S. boys are less likely to be circumcised than elsewhere in the U.S. According to this study, this belief is a myth; the South actually has more circumcisions than elsewhere.
Circumcision rates outside the U.S.:

o United Kingdom: 28.6%

o Conclusion: The U.K. has the lowest circumcision rate of the three major non-U.S. countries in which JackinWorld readers live.
5. Penis Size
Question: "Measured along the top, how long is your erect penis in inches?" By age, the averages are:
o 12: 4.1"

o Conclusions: The average adult penis size is about 6.2". It's interesting that in this study, penis size "peaks" at age 17. Since penises do not get smaller as a male reaches age 21, it can be concluded that boys aged 16, 17, and 18 are most likely to exaggerate the size of their penises!
6. Penis Self-Image

o Of those readers age 15 and over with penises larger than 5" but smaller than 7", 0.4% would like a smaller penis; 22.1% are happy with their size; 66.1% would like a slightly larger one, and 11.4% would like a much larger one.
o Of those readers age 15 and over with penises 7" or larger, 0.8% would like a smaller penis; 51.4% are happy with their size; 43.5% would like a slightly larger one, and 4.3% would like a much larger one.
o Conclusions: An overwhleming majority of young males, of all ages, would like a larger penis. A moderate amount are happy with the way it is, while an extremely small amount think it is too large. These feelings do not vary significantly with age group, with the exception of those who wish their penis was much bigger; this group is much larger in males ages 11-13 than the adults. Not surprisingly, penis-size satisfaction increases as penis size increases.
7. Sexual Intercourse With Females
By age, the percentages of readers who have had sexual intercourse with a female are as follows:

o Conclusions: JackinWorld readers outside the U.S. are significantly more likely to have sex when they are young than U.S. JackinWorld readers. The highest rates are in Continental European countries, such as Germany, France, and Hungary.

o 99.5% said Yes
o 0.5% said No
Those who answered No were asked to skip questions 9-18.
9. JackinWorld Influence
Question: "Had you ever masturbated to orgasm before you discovered JackinWorld?"

o Conclusion: About one out of 40 JackinWorld readers learned how to masturbate by reading JackinWorld.

o Conclusions: Lubrication is used more often by older males than younger ones, who more often must masturbate "on the fly" rather than as a bedtime or morning ritual. Younger males may also have less access to personal lubricants such as K-Y Jelly and Astroglide. Furthermore, lubrication is used more often by males with circumcised penises; this is because the skin on an uncircumcised penis is much looser, so you can grasp it and slide the skin back and forth, causing the foreskin to slide over the head of the penis. Circumcised males usually slide their hand over the surface of the skin, which causes friction that's reduced with lubrication.
14. Visual Aids
Question: "Do you look at sexy pictures or videos while you masturbate?"
o 18.3% rarely or never use visual aids
o 55.7% sometimes use visual aids
o 26.0% use visual aids often
o Among boys aged 11-15, 21.9% rarely use them; 57.3% sometimes do; and 20.8% use them often.
o Conclusion: It seems that of those who have access to visual aids, males use them during masturbation equally regardless of age, but that younger boys have less access to such aids.
15. Fantasies
Question: "Just as you're about to come, what are you usually fantasizing about?"
o 34.4% fantasize about a girl or girls
o 37.0% fantasize about girls and guys together
o 28.6% fantasize about a guy or guys
o Among boys aged 11-15, 36.9% fantasize about a girl or girls; 32.7% fantasize about girls and guys together; and 30.4% fantasize about a guy or guys.
o Conclusions: JackinWorld readers fantasize about the two sexes in relatively equal numbers. Most younger boys tend to focus on one sex, while older boys more often fantasize about a male and female having sex together (40.4% among those aged 16-21).
16. Masturbation Positions
Question: "Which position are you usually in when you come?"
o 66.8% are lying on their back
o 4.8% are lying on their stomach
o 8.6% are standing
o 8.0% are kneeling
o 11.8% are in some other position
o Among boys aged 11-15, only 6.6% are standing; among those aged 16-21, 10.2% are standing. All other positions are relatively qual between the two age groups.
o Conclusion: It may appear that more older males masturbate in the shower or into a sink than do younger males.
17. Ejaculation Force
Question: "When you come, which of the following usually happens?"
o For 1.3%, nothing comes out
o For 14.5%, semen dribbles out
o For 84.2%, semen squirts out
o Among boys aged 11-15: for 3.1%, nothing comes out; for 18.1%, semen dribbles out; and for 78.8%, it squirts out. No readers aged 16-21 have "dry" orgasms; for the vast majority (88.3%), the semen squirts out.
o Conclusion: As males mature into adulthood, their semen is ejaculated with greater force than when they were younger.
18. Semen Disposal
After readers ejaculate semen:
o 46.9% wipe it up with a tissue
o 34.8% wipe it up with a towel or article of clothing
o 10.0% eat it
o 8.3% do something else with it
o Among readers aged 11-15, 52.1% wipe it up with a tissue; this figure drops to 42.9% among those aged 16-21. Older readers are more likely to use a towel or cloth (39.9%) than younger readers (28.0%). Younger readers are slightly more likely to eat their semen (11.7%) than older ones (8.7%).
19. Sexual Orientation
Question: "If you had to pick a sexual orientation that best describes you, which would it be?"
o 41.4% would call themselves Straight
o 36.3% would call themselves Mostly Straight
o 11.6% would call themselves Bisexual
o 7.1% would call themselves Mostly Gay
o 3.6% would call themselves Gay
Therefore:
o 77.6% call themselves either Straight or Mostly Straight
o 10.8% call themselves either Gay or Mostly Gay
o 58.6% consider themselves not completely straight
o Among readers aged 11-15, 46.9% are Straight while only 2.7% are Gay.
o Among those who consider themselves Straight, 64.9% usually fantasize about girls only while masturbating; 28.6% fantasize about guys and girls together, while 6.5% fantasize about guys only.
o Among those who consider themselves Gay, 100% usually fantasize about guys only while masturbating.
o Conclusions: Most JackinWorld readers have at least some homosexual tendencies. The number of readers who call themselves Gay or Mostly Gay is in accordance with Kinsey's often-cited 10%, while the number who call themselves completely gay is closer to the number used by those who discredit Kinsey. Clearly, the wording of the survey question is very important. Also, younger readers are more likely to call themselves Straight than older readers; this is either because readers discover their gay tendencies as they get older, or because older readers include more people with gay tendencies. Finally, a small but significant number of Straight males fantasize about other males. The number of these who later reconsider their sexual orientation, or who later have gay sexual experiences, is unknown -- but it would be a very interesting statistic.
20. Voyeurism
Question: "When you see other naked guys your age in the locker room, which of the following best describes your feelings?"
(a) I have no interest in looking at them
(b) I'll check them out quickly, to compare sizes, etc., but it's not a turn-on
(c) it's a slight turn-on
(d) it's a definite turn-on, and I have to be careful not to get too excited
o 11.7% have no interest in other naked males
o 36.2% "peek"
o 30.9% are slightly turned on
o 21.2% are definitely turned on
Therefore:
o 52.1% consider naked guys a turn-on to some extent
o Of those aged 11-15, 48.7% consider naked guys a turn-on to some extent
21. Exhibitionism
Question: "How do (or would) you feel about being naked in the locker room?"
(a) I am very uncomfortable being seen by other guys
(b) I don't really like it, but I'll do it
(c) I don't care either way
(d) I like it; I'm proud to show my body off
(e) It's a turn-on for other guys to see me naked
o 21.4% are very uncomfortable
o 28.5% don't really like it
o 31.1% don't care
o 9.8% are proud to show off
o 9.1% are turned on to be seen naked
Therefore:
o 49.9% are uncomfortable to some extent
o 18.9% like to show off their naked body to other guys
o Interestingly, uncircumcised males are no more uncomfortable (49.4%) being naked around other guys, despite being in the minority among JackinWorld readers.
o Among those with penises 7" or larger (when erect) and who are also satisfied with the size of their penises, 20.8% are very uncomfortable being seen naked by other guys, 23.4% don't really like it, 27.3% don't care, 19.5% are proud to show off, and 9.1% are turned on by being seen naked.
o Conclusion: Except for a slightly larger number who are proud to show off their bodies, well-endowed, "size-secure" males are no more likely to be either uncomfortable or turned on in the locker room than are other guys.
22. Masturbation Experience With Other Males
Question: "Have you ever masturbated in full view with another guy?"
o 49.8% said Yes
o 50.2% said No
o Among those who would classify themselves as Straight, 35.3% said Yes
o Among those aged 11-15, 45.6% said Yes
o Conclusions: Those who consider themselves completely straight are somewhat less likely to masturbate with other males, although more than one in three have done it. Also, almost all readers who masturbate with other guys have their first such experience by their 16th birthday.
Those that answered No were asked to skip questions 23 and 24.
23. Masturbating Other Males
Readers who had masturbated in the presence of another male were asked, "Have you ever masturbated another guy's erect (hard) penis?"
o 28.2% said No
o 19.1% said Yes, but not to orgasm (comprises 9.5% of all survey respondents)
o 52.7% said Yes, to orgasm (comprises 26.1% of all survey respondents)
Therefore:
o 71.8% of all those who had masturbated in the presence of another male have handled the erect penis of another male
o 35.5% of all JackinWorld readers have handled the erect penis of another male
Among those who would classify themselves as Straight:
o 50.0% who have masturbated in the presence of another male have also handled the erect penis of another male
o 40.0% who have masturbated in the presence of another male have also masturbated another male to orgasm
o 17.6% of all Straight readers have handled the erect penis of another male
o 14.1% of all Straight readers have masturbated another male to orgasm
o Conclusions: Once males begin to masturbate in the presence of one another, masturbating each other is likely -- although straight males are less likely to do it. However, once a straight guy begins masturbating another guy, he's usually willing to continue until his friend ejaculates.
24. Being Masturbated By Other Males
Readers who had masturbated in the presence of another male were asked, "Has your erect penis ever been masturbated by another guy?"
o 26.0% said No
o 19.0 % said Yes, but not to orgasm (comprises 9.5% of all survey respondents)
o 55.0% said Yes, to orgasm (comprises 27.4% of all survey respondents)
Therefore:
o 74.0% of all those who had masturbated in the presence of another male have had their erect penis handled by another male
o 36.9% of all JackinWorld readers taking this survey have had their erect penis handled by another male
Among those who would classify themselves as Straight:
o 57.5% who have masturbated in the presence of another male have also had their erect penis handled by another male
o 37.9% who have masturbated in the presence of another male have also had their erect penis masturbated to orgasm by another male
o 20.3% of all Straight readers have had their erect penis handled by another male
o 13.4% of all Straight readers have been masturbated to orgasm by another male
o Conclusions: Not surprisingly, straight males are more willing to have their penis masturbated by another guy than they are to masturbate another guy. Also, once they start being masturbated, they're less likely to allow their friend to continue masturbating them to orgasm.
25. Hypothetical Question #1
Question: "If your best friend were laid up with two broken arms, and you went over to his house and he asked you to jack him off, would you do it?"
o 75.0% said Yes
o 25.0% said No
o Among readers who would classify themselves as Straight, 53.5% said Yes
o Among readers aged 11-15, 72.1% said Yes
o Conclusions: While fewer Straight readers would be willing to masturbate their friend in this situation, most would still do it. Surprisingly, younger readers would be more reluctant to do it than older readers. The group most likely to do it would be older readers with some less-than-straight tendencies.
26. Hypothetical Question #2
Question: "If you were laid up with two broken arms, and your best friend offered to jack you off, would you let him?"
o 78.9% said Yes
o 21.1% said No
o Among readers who would classify themselves as Straight, 60.2% said Yes
o Among readers aged 11-15, 76.2% said Yes
o Conclusions: Readers of all ages and sexual orientations are slightly more likely to accept being masturbated by a friend than to masturbate a friend when asked.
